R. Brian Harvey is the Managing Attorney at the Beard Law Firm. He practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, workers compensation, and insurance/bad faith litigation. Brian has worked as an attorney for the Beard Law Firm since 2010, and was promoted to Managing Attorney in 2015.
Originally from West Virginia, Brian moved to Southern Illinois in 1986 where he has lived ever since. He is a graduate from Sparta High School where he excelled at football and debate. Brian debated on scholarship for Illinois State University and eventually earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Brian attended Southern Illinois University School of Law at Carbondale, where he excelled in the Moot Court program. His moot court team finished as the first runner up for the 2007 intramural competition. At the national level, Brian was chosen to compete at the McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court competition hosted by the University of Minnesota Law School.
Facing teams from top law schools from all over the country, Brian earned honors as Best Oral Advocate in the Preliminary Rounds during the 2008 competition. In that same competition, Brian and his team advanced to octo-finals and finished as one of the top 16 teams in the competition. The following year, Brian’s team advanced to the quarter final round and finished as one of the top 8 teams in the 2009 competition Prior to earning his J.D. at SIU in 2009, Brian was appointed to the Order of the Barristers.
Brian has a wonderful wife named Melanie who teaches the 4th grade at a local public school and he has a daughter named Hannah who is pursuing her undergraduate degree at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
